I would like to make a mold of a table lamp with my plaster molding. How?
The lamp is beautiful, I play to make a mold, then give more of the same, but with special modifications and additions. I hope that to make the plaster mold, then use SLIP or other media to launch. Before recording, I cut some numbers, for more acute. Or is there another way to do that carveable and can be cooked in an oven at home? I really want to make the lamp as unbreakable as possible. How much experience that this type of projects? And complexity is the lamp? What is it? You can use plaster molds, so no cons cons that undermines deductions will block the mold and the cast (http://www.danperezstudios.com/images/workshop/molding_casting/undercut.gif for example). The only solid material as possible, I can think of is to use a resin. But then you must either power cable using resin or a database for ensure the lamp is hollow. To cast resin really would not use a cast that is too porous (you can use shellac to seal, but I'm not sure how to work with resin). The resin is really working with a silicone rubber mold, which also allows the flexibility a counter-booty. But I am familiar with silicon releases acetic acid establishing at the same time, if the lamp is made of metal, can discolor the metal (if you use the water in the plaster cast may rust). Get Training in the manufacture of molds, if you really want this project. Otherwise, you should at least show a picture of the object to cast. Best methods for producing mold depend largely on the size, shape and display the information of the object.
